The Warrior's Way.

I saw this movie last week: twice. Cowboys vs Ninjas--how can it fail?

Despite being marketed as an action film (and there's lots of action), most of the middle part of the movie is a mixture of introspective drama and love story. The last 30 minutes is non-stop mayhem though.

The Mechanic: Trailer

This is the first movie of 2011 I'm looking forward too.  Jason Statham in a remake of my favourite Charles Bronson flick--promising....

Burke And Hare Trailer

The upcoming comedy "Burke And Hare" looks like it's going to be a doozy.  Check out the trailer.

Bettie Page Documentary Trailer

Here's a trailer for the documentary "Bettie Page Bares All" that portrays the life story of "the most photographed woman in history". According to the Internet Move Database, it was due for release in 2009, but it also gives the status as "post production". Hopefully it will be out soon--Bettie deserves a good quality, honest depiction of her life and career.

Upcoming Movie: Black Death

There's a British Horror/Fantasy movie coming out on May 28th called Black Death that seems to be sailing under everyone's radar, which is a little surprising giving the pretty awesome trailer (see below) and the acting talents of Sean Bean. Reading the sketchy sypnoses that I've been able to find made me think immediately of "The Navigator", and "The Church"--two movies of which I have fond memories. The trailer made me think that my initial knee-jerk reaction was way off, but it looks like a very worthwhile flick. Hopefully it will get a wide enough distrobution that I can see it on the big screen.

AC/DC meets Iron Man 2

I finally got around to seeing Iron Man this weekend, and was very pleasantly surprised. Robert Downey Jr. continues to impress (his Sherlock Holmes was simply brilliant) and the movie, while not stunningly original, was solid in just about every way. I'm now looking forward to the sequel more than ever.

Iron Man 2 comes out later this week, and since Marvel and Columbia Records cut a deal for cross promotion, AC/DC's music will grace the soundtrack, and in return footage for the movie was used to create video for AC/DC, perfoming "Shoot To Thrill". Enjoy!

"The Last Airbender" Trailer

Some more eye-candy.  This movie is either going to rock, or it's going to bite donkey scrotes.  Given the director's past record I wouldn't bet either way, but then again I loved The Village and even his most diehard fans hated it, so what do I know?

Red Cliff Pts. 1 and 2

This is one amazing movie(s) that actually lives up to the hype.  A beautiful, sprawling, historical epic that runs for almost 6 hours (if you watch both parts back to back) Red Cliff manages to tell both its story on both the epic scale and a more intimate one without ever dragging.  It is such a staggerly huge movie that there's no way that a mere blog post can review it properly, so I won't even attempt it.  Just check out the trailer, then beg, borrow or steal a copy of both films and watch them.

Night Of The Demons Trailer

I'm  looking forward to seeing this only because I loved the original.  It was so cheesy that it was fun--I hope that they manage to keep that quality in the remake

Blood: The Last Vampire Trailer

Okay, I know I promised to ration the videos I post, but this is still within the guidelines I set for myself, and there's a reason I'm posting this one.

I've been wanting to see Blood: The Last Vampire for a while now, and my friend Eddie lent me a copy to check out, but before I got to see it, he took off to Jamaica for the holidays (lucky bastard) and so now I'm going to have to wait for him to get back in a week or so before I can see it. After which, of course, I will post a review. But I'm pretty confident, based on this trailer, that it at least won't be a total waste.

For one thing, I love vampire movies (and not the insipid, tweeny "Twilight" crapola that is currently smothering the genre in girly fluffiness and is an affront to darkness and perversity everywhere). For another, I love Asian action movies. I never saw the original manga though--my geekiness has never embraced japanimation, for some reason.

Anyway, enjoy the trailer and keep an eye out for the upcoming review.

Speaking of vampire flicks, here's an upcoming movie that looks like it might be worth checking out:

Anvil: The Story Of Anvil.

I love Anvil. Probably most of that's nostalgia: Anvil was technically the first metal band I ever saw live (they opened for Iron Maiden back around '81). But it's more that just that. Despite the jokes and the sniggers, they were actually good. Not brilliant, but good: solidly, honestly, reliably good. Their "Metal On Metal" album remains a fond favourite, instantly transporting me back to the days in high-school. I was nerdy, slightly weird, socially aloof and everso slightly disturbing to the jocks and the preps. Ah, good times.

Anvil are finally getting some recognition, thanks to a documentary "Anvil: The Story Anvil". The title of the movie is much like the band itself--everything you need to know is right there, no poetic metaphors or lofty subtexts. The movies about Anvil: The Story of Anvil.
